There are many ways to protect your face. With COVID-19 transmitted via droplet and possible aerosols, we all need our own personal salad bar sneeze guards. Maker communities have stepped up to address the basic need of a physical barrier between frontline workers and those around them.
We have been working to speed up manufacturing processes for Budmen and NYU style face shields by employing altered designs, tools, and methods.
This is how we made them. Your way will be great, too.

Learnings from Making Face Shields
There are so many amazing designs out there (check out OSMS for more) that may work better with your set up - experiment, read and see what works best!
There are pros and cons for every design of face shield. The Budmen design is very sturdy but also can feel heavy after a long day of wearing it. The NYU design is light and we’ve received great feedback on them but they don’t last as long as the Budmen. We ended up confirming with each facility which type they preferred.
Everyone wants to help and making face shields is an awesome way for your friends, family, neighbors and strangers (i.e. new friends) to make a big difference in their communities. Hook them up with a kit with all the necessary bits and pieces they need to assemble. Hit them up with a list of places to drop off at and you’ve suddenly scaled your operation to have more impact!
Face shield need is ever fluctuating. This need was addressed aggressively early on in COVID and many places are seeing this need satisfied - for now. Ask the facility if they’re in need prior to drop off.
